Betty A must be 78 by now. She reminds me of Mom in her Christian walk. She's been the primary person in the life of Travis (grandson) since he was a baby. Bowel cancer and malignant melanoma have been her trials among other health issues.
Anyway he has graduated from Grade 12. Garry used to bring him and his brother home on Sunday afternoons to give the grandparents a break. Then when Travis grew into a teenager he didn't know what to do with him. ..Hmmm

I couldn't remember if I'd posted this. I also decided the male grandchildren needed some "air time" on my site after all the graduation stuffl. Notice how big they're getting. Curtis brings the ride on mower and does our lawn for us.
(by the way ...this is a floor mat...painted on the back of a piece of cushion floor.)

The bottom pictures shows how hairdressers can transform a young girl. The top photo shows that they're still young girls...Thankfully.
Dr. Seuss' quote was chosen for their...I forget what it's called but it stays up on the wall ..forever. It was done on canvas this year for the first time....Fire regulations.

My goal in the morning is to get to my cup of coffee. Everything that has to be done..shower, shampoo, and dressing seem to be a burden as I head for my favorite chair. (in life the fast foward button on the remote is my favorite)
But this morning I grasped the blessing of being able to do my morning care. I have good visuals of lying in a hospital bed waiting to have your basin of water changed, the bedpan taken away, and then trying to get yourself dressed, maybe even using one of those "pullers" from physiotherapy to get your socks on. Thank you, God for where I am today.
And thank you, Dorie, for doing this for our mother.

Laugh

You never know when a good laugh is going to hit. Sisters are usually the source of sharing something really simple that just grabs ya....simple is probably a good word for a lot of things. Hmmm

Company

George and Betty dropped by so we were able to get this pie cleaned up..as they say. I also concocted a light offering for the ladies...my own invention. "Moose on the Loose" is the name of the icy delight stored in my downstairs freezer (Julie's).I had made ,, from scratch, vanilla pudding into which I then stirred the melted stuff. I think if I had a fancy stemmed serving dish it would have equaled a Bare Bones offerring.
The chocolate chip cookies didn't sell too well..Maybe I shouldn't have added that Maya helped me make them...Hmm

Eating in

Colin dropped in about 1.30 pm to say how great it would be if we had a family supper. ..here..for Father's Day. I must say 5 tablespoons of cornstarch ensures that you can have a strawberry pie ready to cut at 6pm. (cutting the berries up is the secret)
Great to have the family together...a real hodge podge of priorities in individual lives. There's Julie counting off the weeks of her pregnancy, Kim working with strongwilled mothers to plan a grade 6 graduation, Maria looking for a solution for pimples ...and Maya wanting to know where the rain is coming from.

Eating out

Didn't Kathy take a great picture. I'd say that's the professional's trick...don't centre your subject and capture more of the background. This gives you an idea of the decor in the new restaurant Bare Bones . I'd say it's one of a kind for Cumberland County. The waitress agreed that's it's a good idea to eat out with folks that will share around the table. Nobody asked to taste my corn chowder but it was very good.

Morning

How'd you like to wake up, lift your head and be able to see the sunrise? I guess early mornings are my absolute favorite time. The coffee has to be steaming hot though :)

Texting

Another pic for Jill. This window in our dining room gets alot of attention....I love the smudges from all the little hands. This is an early morning shot.
Maria has a phone with the text messaging feature and she checks it often as you can imagine. But I do exactly the same thing with my emails...and if I don't get an answer promptly I begin to feel neglected and wonder what happened to the relationship..(on a small scale but still a little hmmm).Crazy or what.

Sunshine

I don't know how you'd get a house that had sunlight streaming in every window. Facing the north our kitchen misses out...EXCEPT on a few days in June at a certain time of the morning.
Here's my early a.m. coffee waiting for me.
When Jill first went to Korea I used to marvel in the fact that when the sun was rising here it had already been shining on her for a whole day. Gives me a warm feeling. Hmm

Another picture taken in a corner of our household. When Ida's will was read at a family meeting it was stated that I was to have this chair...(at least we think this is the one she meant). I do know that this is definitely a part of the McCormick history if you're interested. This chair was made by Harris McCormick for his sister Elizabeth. ...that'd be over 100 years ago. I almost gave it away to another member of our extended family. Sometimes you want to connect with the past and sometimes you want to just work with today.

Fudge and Paint

So far this morning I've fine tuned my fudge making process...again.Contact me if you want to update your files :)
And my floor mat is coming along nicely..Maya did the yellow house...I hope she still recognizes it since I cleaned it up and put windows in. I try not to do that to kids....hmm

This is Maya...she'd always look for a dandelion as soon as she was in the open air. She used the softness of it to go along with her thumb sucking. I've put my other "grandchildren" pics on my Facebook site.

I'm having a little run on entries here. This is a cosy corner of our hallway. Gotta love those Berenstain bears...Mama, Papa, Sister, and Brother. ..Thankfully Maya has picked up the torch and we're hearing lots of new stories. If ever I were to be paid for being able to produce tears on the spot ...I would use the book Too Much Birthday. Works ever time for me.
Folks love the little home made cupcakes that Carole W. made for me...they fit in well here.

Tonight we attended a Conservative Party Dinner...I think that's how you'd say it. This pic shows the pie we were were served...How does one cook like that?
The entertainment contained "Lucky Chair" ...nothing under mine. Garry was roving so I checked under his...nothing. Norman had already gone home so I checked his too...and lo and behold..THERE WAS THE STICKER....a gift certificate for $30 at the Bare Bones Restaurant.
Tomorrow in church I'll offer it to Norman and I'll be holding real tight to it when I pass it over. Hmmm

Smart or what?

This picture is from Google. Last night we played cards with Carson and Bonnie. He did buy 2 horses when he retired so that he would have something to get out of bed for in the mornings. During bad weather he's concerned about them being out in the elements. There is a shelter with a metal roof where they can be protected in their pasture. As a storm approached he watched from afar to see that they would do. At the first hint of lightning...both horses came out from under that shelter and stood together in the middle of the open field until the storm passed.
Awesome! However his next story confused me about their intelligence. If they have access to an unrestricted supply of oats, and then drink water, their bellies swell up and they die. Hmm

Shop kitties

I forget how much I've told you about these 5 kitties that were born in the big garage/shop at the "farm". One little kitty was adopted a couple of weeks ago. Today Troy's brother came to pick out a kitty and would you believe he chose the scrawny black kitty.
Still 3 left. ..and a nice mama kitty.
Who's reading my blog? This is my kitty's scratching post. It's one of those things you walk by a hundred times a day and never notice. I think it's the best one I've seen and you can see it's well used. I had hoped the holes were from a woodpecker (better story) but Garry tells me it's a pole from the telephone company and the holes were for wire to go through maybe.
By the way...Christianity is not simple, not logical, and you can't figure it out. I guess you just have to be willing to let God be God.hmmm

Remembering

I don't think our memory serves us well...like when we remember every detail of an embarrassing incident that happened years ago ...and then I can't remember the best way to cook fish that I discovered 4 months ago.
This is a note to my friend Carol..I do remember that when Colin had his accident at age 3/4 and our life was so upside down and my body in such stress..(I seriously had difficulty getting my throat muscles to work to swallow my Shreddies.) I remember you looked after the other kids for us that day and when we arrived home you had eveything under control and the counter lined with home cooking. Thank you does not seem like enough...hmmm

Out of my comfort zone

You guys all know it takes alot to get me out of my house and my familiar surroundings. Can you believe I am here rubbing elbows with the contestants in the Queen contest of the Apple Blossom Festival. The princesses are passing out samples of apple pie numbered 1to 8 and we were sampling them and casting our vote for the People's Choice.
Carol E. and I both have the confidence that we could do better than any of them. Good thing we live in different communities :)
You'll also notice that I was probably the best advertisement for the benefits of avoiding the harmful sun rays. Dr. Gallant would be proud of me. Hmmm
